Entrances and arrival

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The first day of school was very enjoyable, and it was wonderful to see the school filled with life again. Now that the school year has begun, we would like to remind everyone about access to and entrances at Landakotsskóli.

Entrances
  • The school's main entrance is located at Túngata 15. It is open throughout the day, and a member of staff is available at reception.
  • Families are welcome to use the other school entrances in the morning, except for the entrance by the cafeteria. This door is an emergency exit only and should not be used as an entrance. Students and families are thus asked not to walk to the school via Hávallagata. After 8:40 a.m., all entrances other than the main entrance will be locked.
  • Parents arriving after 8:40 a.m. are kindly asked to report to reception at the main entrance.
  • If you are attending a meeting, bringing something for your child, or picking up your child during the school day, please use the main entrance on Túngata and sign in and out at reception.

Arrival and Traffic Safety
It is important to review basic traffic safety rules with children to help ensure their safety on the way to and from school. Please keep the following points in mind:
  • Children should always use traffic lights or marked pedestrian crossings when crossing streets.
  • If you are driving your child to school, please drop them off in the church parking area on Túngata (see map/photo).

Please do not:
  • Do not drop students off on the opposite side of the street, as this encourages children to cross the road where there is no pedestrian crossing.
  • Do not park your car in the drop-off spaces in front of the school on Túngata.
  • Do not park facing oncoming traffic. This is both illegal and dangerous.
  • Do not park in spaces reserved for people with disabilities.
  • Do not park in the caretaker's designated parking space.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the school community.
